Prosecco, these are the 10 best of 2027 according to Gambero Rosso

It is the undisputed protagonist of our aperitifs, it accompanies special occasions but is now inevitable even in the most informal toasts. Prosecco is one of the most loved and well-known Italian wines, but be careful if you think that they are all the same or similar. In fact, behind this name hide very different productions, linked to different territories, vineyards and processing methods.

We are reminded of this by the new selection by Gambero Rosso, which in the Vini d’Italia 2027 guide awarded the maximum recognition of the Tre Bicchieri to 10 labels of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG. A selection that rewards wines capable of describing the peculiarities of the Treviso hills and which this year also reserves two new features.

The ten awarded wines all come from historic companies in the Conegliano and Valdobbiadene area, but have different characteristics and personalities.

An interesting aspect that emerged from the tastings of the Gambero Rosso experts concerns the style of the most popular Proseccos: compared to richer and more immediate interpretations, this year the jury was especially won over by their freshness, acidity and savory component, together with greater gustatory finesse.

The selection includes different types, from Extra Brut to Brut, up to Extra Dry and Asciutti, with labels that also enhance individual areas and vineyards of the denomination.

Furthermore, this is not just a list of Prosecco DOC. The award-winning wines belong to the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG denomination, which identifies a specific production of the hills in the province of Treviso, not to be confused with Prosecco DOC, characterized by a larger production area.

However, one final clarification is important: the Gambero Rosso Tre Bicchieri reward the oenological quality and organoleptic characteristics of the wines, they do not represent an overall evaluation of the product in every aspect. The ranking, in fact, does not provide, for example, information on the possible presence of pesticide residues, on the substances used in the vineyard or on the environmental impact of production.

A wine appreciated for its aroma, freshness and balance is not necessarily also the most sustainable or with the least number of chemical residues. These are different aspects, which would require specific analysis and evaluation criteria and which the Gambero Rosso recognition does not take into consideration.

Sorelle Bronca – Valdobbiadene Rive di Rua Brut Particle 181 2025

A Brut that combines immediacy and complexity. On the nose it presents a profile rich in nuances, while on the palate it is harmonious, with a pleasant savory component.

Bortolomiol – Valdobbiadene Rive di San Pietro di Barbozza Extra Brut Grande Cuvée del Founder Motus Vitae 2024

The selection ends with an elegant and measured Extra Brut, with creamy bubbles and a harmonious sip. The flavor accompanies the tasting, giving balance and finesse.

Conegliano Valdobbiadene, a territory that makes the difference

This selection is also an opportunity to remember how much the territory can affect the characteristics of a wine. The Conegliano Valdobbiadene denomination spreads over 15 municipalities in the province of Treviso, between the two towns from which it takes its name.

Here the vineyards climb up often very steep hills, at an altitude between 100 and 500 metres. The landscape is a mosaic of vineyards, woods and grassy terraces, the so-called ciglioni, which allow even the most difficult slopes to be cultivated.

The area was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019 and includes 43 sub-areas called Rive, each linked to specific characteristics of the territory. It is precisely this variety that allows us to obtain wines with different profiles, even when the protagonist is always the same grape: Glera, present for at least 85% according to the specification.

One more reason to look at Prosecco not only as the inevitable bubble of the aperitif, but as a wine that can express very different identities, history and characteristics depending on its origin.
