This interactive, multi-sensory museum takes you inside the human body (you won’t believe it)

Who has never wanted to explore their body as if it were a mysterious world? In the Netherlands, the Corpus Museum makes this unique adventure possible, with a multi-sensory journey to discover what makes us human. Located in Oegstgeest, a few kilometers from the city of Leiden and about 45 km from Amsterdam, the Corpus Museum is the furthest thing from a traditional museum: it is an educational and interactive experience, perfect for adults and children (from six years old su) who want to learn while having fun.

A museum in the shape of a giant man

The appearance of the Corpus is already striking before entering. The structure, several meters high, represents a gigantic seated human body. But the real magic happens inside: visitors, equipped with audio guides available in eight languages, begin their journey from the knee, then progress towards the heart, lungs, stomach and end inside the brain.

The journey, lasting approximately 3 hours, is designed to be a total immersion, with 3D images, sound effects and interactive activities that make the journey engaging and highly educational. For example, you will be able to observe red blood cells and sperm in movement thanks to 3D glasses, for an experience that promises to be as fascinating as it is instructive.

What you learn during the visit

The initial amazement that the Corpus is able to arouse takes second place compared to the real objective of the museum, which is to educate and educate the little ones. Each section of the museum explains the functioning of the main organs and systems, highlighting how complex and fascinating this “perfect machine” that is the human body is.

The visit does not end with the guided tour. Once the main route has been completed, visitors can try their hand at quizzes, interactive games and activities that delve into the most diverse topics, such as correct nutrition, the importance of physical exercise and the mechanisms that regulate our organism. It is a light but incisive way to raise awareness even among the youngest of how important it is to take care of themselves.

Useful information for the visit

Planning the visit is essential given the success of the initiative. Entry is prohibited for children under six years of age, while it is recommended for ages eight and up, to fully appreciate the scientific and realistic details of the experience. The ticket costs 23.95 euros for both adults and children aged between six and 14.
Given the limited number of participants for each round – maximum 16 people – booking is highly recommended. Just buy tickets online, choosing a specific time, and show up at least 20 minutes early to avoid the risk of losing your place. Overall, between the tour and the extra activities, the visit is approximately three hours.
