This non-profit of Kenya transforms the flip flops on the beaches in works of multicolor art

Elephants, lions, antelopes, multicolor turtles, are the works made with the flip flops, abandoned on the beaches of Kenya, by the non-profit organization Ocean Sole, which collects and reinvents them creatively, offering work to women, fishermen and to the craftsmen of the community.

The goal is to sensitize people on environmental issues and the importance of preserving the health of the oceans, transforming what would otherwise be a harmful refusal into something extremely creative.

The birth of the organization is due to the founder Julia Church, which affected by some toys made by Kenyan children with abandoned slippers, has decided to involve mothers in the collection and recovery of flip flops, as well as in their transformation into small and large artisan works .

The organization also created customized pieces for private individuals, companies and other entities: it has created huge works of art for botanical gardens, wedding or birthday parties, products, shopping centers, children’s hospitals.

Not only sustainable, the works of Ocean Sole also affect their captivating aesthetic and their bright colors.

They are more beautiful than the other and the fact that they are made by people of the community, guaranteeing them a well -paid and safe job, makes them truly unique and special.
