In South-West Victoria, Australia, a very sweet episode has captured the attention of thousands of users on social media. Steve Lamplough discovered a very unusual scene in his garden featuring his Golden Retriever named Denni with a baby koala resting on her back. A bit as if the dog had given him a piggyback ride, a little journey between unlikely friends.
Steve said he heard the dogs barking and making a fuss outside and, going to check, he found himself faced with an incredible surprise: Denni running towards him with the little marsupial clinging to his neck and occasionally bouncing up and down.
The skit went viral, touching users
The photos published by Steve on Facebook show Denni smiling and proud, while the little koala seems perfectly at ease on his back. The scene aroused immediate tenderness among users, with many commenting on the sweetness and curiosity of the moment. Some speculated that the koala had fallen from a nearby tree and that the dog’s maternal instincts led Denni to care for it. The scene was defined as a truly viral moment with over 9,000 likes and almost 800 shares, demonstrating how stories of friendship between different species can excite and spread joy.
The return to normality
Despite the tender moment, the baby koala had to be returned to its mother. Steve gently removed him from Denni’s back and placed him in a nearby tree, where the mother koala later returned to welcome him back safely.
Steve told theAustralian Broadcasting Corporation who, despite having previously spotted koalas on his property, had never seen such a close and playful interaction between a dog and a marsupial. The story of Denni and the little koala reminded the world that friendship and harmony can arise in the most unexpected places and that sometimes a small gesture of care is enough to transform an ordinary meeting into a moment of great tenderness.
