There is a place, at 1713 meters above Lagorai, where silence has a different flavour. Where the work begins looking at the peaks and ends under a sky full of stars. It is called Malga Cere, and it is an oasis of peace and serenity in the heart of Trentino, a magical place in any season of the year, to rediscover the pleasure of true mountain life.
Luigi, Giulia and little Rosa have embraced a lifestyle linked to simplicity and respect for traditions. In this place with the flavor of times gone by, they offer hospitality to all those who want to immerse themselves, for just one night or for a few days, in the industrious and relaxing silence that only the mountains offer.
Located in a panoramic position overlooking Val Calamento, in western Lagorai, Malga Cere is a rural establishment that offers its guests accommodation and catering services, together with the possibility of organizing cultural and social initiatives. In full respect of the mountain ecosystem in which it is located, the structure uses renewable energy and offers short supply chain and organic products.
To reach the mountain hut you follow a wonderful natural path of about 2 km, with a height difference of 400 metres, crossing enchanting coniferous forests. You can get there on foot, on horseback, by mountain bike or with snowshoes and, during the winter season, even with mountaineering skis. A forest road exists, but it can only be traveled by those with a specific permit and is reserved for the facility’s service. Not reachable by car, Malga Cere has made this choice a precise declaration: low environmental impact, authentic integration with the landscape, rejection of the superfluous.
How to apply and who they are looking for
For the 2026 summer season, from June to September, Malga Cere is looking for two special people to share all this with.
The first figure sought is a kitchen helper and handyman: someone with the desire to get involved in the kitchen and beyond, capable of adapting to the thousand small needs that a structure at high altitude brings with it every day. The second is a person dedicated to welcoming guests and helping in the room and on the terrace, because the first smile a hiker receives after hours of walking is worth as much as a hot meal, perhaps more.
You don’t need great CVs. You need something that can’t be found written anywhere: respect for the mountains, the ability to stay in a remote place without it weighing you down, the genuine desire to work in a structure that has chosen to exist lightly on the territory. Priority will be given to those who already know the Alpine environment and have gained experience in refuges or structures at high altitude, because life in the mountain hut has its precise rhythms, and those who have already experienced them know how to move.
Those who work here don’t clock in and don’t count the minutes: they live in the mountains for an entire season, they breathe it, they learn it a little more every day. The mountain hut guarantees food and accommodation for the entire duration of the season and adequate financial compensation. But beyond the numbers, what it really offers is something rarer: a summer out of the ordinary, far from the noise, immersed in one of the most intact corners of Trentino. An experience that changes the way you look at the world, even when you return to the valley.
