Alberto Angela returns to TV with “Stanotte a Torino”: when and where to see it

On Christmas evening Rai 1 returns to focus on Alberto Angela and his now recognizable formula, made up of story, rhythm and measured wonder. On Thursday 25 December, in prime time, at 9.30 pm, “Stanotte a Torino” will be broadcast, the new chapter of the “Stanotte a” series, this time entirely dedicated to the Piedmontese capital.

Alberto Angela will accompany the public on a nocturnal journey into a city that thrives on elegance, historical stratifications and some surprises less known to most. Turin thus becomes the common thread of a narrative that spans centuries, styles and different identities, moving between great symbols and everyday places, without forcing or glossy postcards. The broadcast, produced by Rai Cultura and directed by Gabriele Cipollitti, will also be available on RaiPlay.

The story takes shape among squares, palaces and Savoy residences, and also opens up to contemporary architecture and the places of the city’s cultural life. Among the stops are the Royal Palace of Venaria, the Basilica of Superga, the Egyptian Museum, the Mole Antonelliana with the National Cinema Museum, the Automobile Museum, the OGR Turin and the Lingotto. There will also be space for the historic cafés and symbolic buildings of the centre, such as Palazzo Reale, the Galleria Subalpina and the Teatro Regio, as well as urban views that include Piazza Castello, Piazza San Carlo, Piazza Carignano and the Porte Palatine.

Filming took place between November and the first days of December, with the support of Film Commission Torino Piemonte, and drones were also used to provide an unprecedented view of the city. To embellish the special, the interventions of guests such as Giancarlo Giannini and Luciana Littizzetto, who support Angela in the story with measured and personal forays.

Turin is nothing new in Alberto Angela’s television journey: right here, in 2015, Tonight at the Egyptian Museum was born, the first experiment of a formula that over the years has brought viewers to Florence, St. Peter’s, Naples, Milan, Paris and Rome. A journey that continues, and that on Christmas evening returns to stop under the Mole.

You can find all the episodes on RaiPlay and follow the special “Tonight in Turin. Travel notes” on RaiPlaySound.
