A nightmarish night for the inhabitants of Javalí Viejo, a small hamlet of Murcia, Spain. A malfunction in the sound system of a local school transformed what was supposed to be a peaceful night’s rest into a surreal forced concert: the song “Tanti Auguri” played continuously from the speakers for five consecutive hours.
The festive song began to play in the middle of the night, gradually waking up all the residents of the area. Unable to go back to sleep and with no way to stop the music, exasperated residents had to wait for the authorities to arrive.
Finally, around 4:30 in the morning, the firefighters had to intervene to put an end to the sonic torment. The firefighters reached the school and managed to turn off the crazy sound system, finally restoring silence to the neighborhood.
The episode, although annoying for those who experienced it, sparked hilarity on Spanish social media, where many joked about the particular nocturnal “serenade”. It is not yet clear what caused the technical failure that sent the famous birthday tune into a loop.
