The sand still fresh under your feet at six in the morning, the smell of the sea mixing with that of incense, a hundred people stretching in silence watching the sun rise over the Adriatic.
Those who follow us know: we have grown fond of Kalemana. We wrote about it as the festival of free souls, rebels and dreamers and there is one edition, in particular, that we still carry with us. Now it is about to return: on 12 and 13 September 2026, with the fifth edition, again on the beach of Punta Marina, a stone’s throw from Ravenna. And it returns raising the bar again, with a program that has grown year after year, managing to keep 3 fundamental assets together: the science of longevity, psychophysical well-being and environmental sustainability. All in direct contact with nature and the sea.
Here’s what to expect from a festival that, edition after edition, is trying to become a point of reference in Italy on these issues and which, judging by how much it has grown in the last 5 years, is definitely succeeding.
Not a retreat, but two days to put your feet back on the ground
We spend our days locked in the house or office, with a biological clock that no longer knows what time it is. Two days outdoors, with your feet in the sand and the wind at you, does more than it seems. And it is also the simplest way to understand something that we often repeat here: if we feel good, we do less damage to what surrounds us.
The theme that holds everything together is conscious longevity. Not the obsession with eternal youth, not miraculous supplements, but the daily and somewhat boring practice that really works: moving every day, eating well (and plant-based), learning to manage stress, sleeping, being around people who don’t ask you to be different from who you are. Kalemana puts it into practice for two days in a row, and the idea is that you then take something home.
The Main Stage
@kalemana Festival
On the large stage, the one with a sea view, alternate names that those who frequent the world of yoga, conscious sport and personal growth know well. The host is Paola Maugeri, who has been talking about sustainable and cruelty-free living since before it became a trend.
The yoga practices are entrusted to Denise Dellagiacoma (Yoga Academy), Lucrezia Montrone and Marco Migliavacca. The dawn date, the one that gets people up at five every year without complaining, is Charlotte Lazzari’s. Wake up in the dark, mat on the sand and first practice while the sun comes out of the sea. It’s one of the moments that, if you’ve been there once, you never miss again.
Silent yoga(@Kalemana
And then there is silent yoga, which is a bit of a trademark of Kalemana: headphones on your head, Denise’s voice in your ears that only you can hear, while all around there is the sound of the sea and a few seagulls. From the outside it seems strange, hundreds of people moving in unison in total silence. From the inside it is the experience that, more than any other, makes the rest of the world disappear for an hour.
For those who prefer to sweat there is postural and functional training with Sara Compagni di Postura da Paura, Paolo Zotta and Ivana Fitness Trainer. Real movement, not just stretching, but with attention to how you use your body which then makes the difference in the long term.
Two heavy presences arrive from abroad: Shiva Rea, who invented Prana Flow and is one of the most influential yoga teachers in the world, and Tim Barnes with the dance of the 5 rhythms, which starts from the drums and ends where the body takes you. Richard Romagnoli holds his Happy Genetica motivational sessions, halfway between laughter and transformation.
The soundtrack is by the resident band Ritmoteca, then acoustic concerts, DJ sets at sunset and, when it gets dark, fire on the beach and ecstatic dance. Which is how every evening of Kalemana ends: dancing barefoot without anyone watching how you dance.
The Experience areas
The stage is only one part. The rest of the festival lives in four elementally inspired areas (Fire, Earth, Air/Wind and Sacred Garden), with more than forty experiences to choose from. Some of the ones that interest us the most:
Then there is the Talk Area, with doctors, psychotherapists and popularizers who talk about mental health, neurodivergence, functional nutrition and holistic health. It is the most “heady” part of the festival, and also the one in which you return home with a few more ideas as well as with sand in your shoes.
The beach is left cleaner than you find it
A wellness festival that litters the beach it’s held on wouldn’t make sense. For this reason, alongside historic partners in the veg world such as Sojasun, this year too the Hera Group is there to reduce single-use plastic: free fountains and water points to fill the water bottle, separate waste collection organized throughout the entire area.
The unwritten rule is the same as always: you leave, leaving the beach better than you found it, including the dunes. Because the coast of Punta Marina, with its dune belt and the sea in front, is an ecosystem that must be treated with the same care that you reserve for yourself on those two days.
