The most famous pocket monster franchise on the planet is preparing to once again push the boundaries of digital to transform fantasy into corporate and tourism reality. The Pokémon Company has indeed announced a high-level partnership with NOT A HOTEL, a Japanese brand specialized in luxury hospitality and advanced architectural design.
The project consists of the creation of an independent and circular housing unit, modeled exactly like a giant Poké Ball, designed to offer a very comfortable living experience: a real dream for fans of the cartoon. The structure will be built in a location currently reserved on the island of Hokkaido, the northernmost prefecture of Japan, famous for its impressive expanses of woodland and uncontaminated landscapes. The house is configured as a reworking in a luxury glamping key, designed to integrate perfectly into the surrounding natural environment.
Internal design and synergy with Pokémon Sleep
The interior of the capsule was designed to combine conceptual aesthetics and ergonomics. From the first sequences released by the promoters, the suite features a large circular bed intended for two people, positioned in front of a floor-to-ceiling panoramic window that allows you to observe the forested vegetation of Hokkaido.
The entire operation is closely linked to Pokémon Sleep, the mobile application focused on tracking and improving the quality of sleep. The objective of the two companies is to recreate live the dynamics of energy recovery that characterizes the video game, offering acoustic and visual insulation ideal for relaxation. The choice to use the international name Poké Ball instead of the Japanese term Monster Ball also highlights the desire to attract a global audience of enthusiasts and collectors of unique experiences.
How to apply and when bookings will open
Accessing this special accommodation will not take place via traditional hotel booking channels. Access will in fact be regulated by a confidential application and selection procedure, the official call for which will be opened on 15 September 2026 through the digital platform created for the initiative. On the same date, the exact geographical position within the Hokkaido region, the definitive images of the interior furnishings and details on the services included in the stay will be revealed.
The calendar of the first entries remains to be monitored: the extreme weather conditions of the local winter could push the properties to open the doors of the Poké Ball in the most favorable climatic periods, transforming the structure into one of the most sought-after points of reference for themed hospitality in the coming years.
