Gingerbread houses and men are increasingly popular in our latitudes too, but we rarely see them used as decorative elements on Christmas tables. Yet they are perfect for making fairy-tale centerpieces, place cards and other niceties.
First of all you need to prepare them: here and here you can find our recipes. Once the little men and houses have been made, here are some original ideas for decorating the Christmas table.
You can scatter them here and there, use them as placeholders or make them protagonists of the table.
Little houses as centrepieces
The houses lend themselves well to the creation of fairy-tale centrepieces: you can place them on a long white runner, arranging them one after the other.
Or immerse them among fir and pine branches, alternating them with pine trees, pine cones and pure white candles.
Little houses and little men as centrepieces
If you want a more playful table, alternate the houses with the gingerbread men: you could place the houses on some stands and the men all around.
Little houses as centerpieces and placeholder men
If the table is not excessively long, place a nice little house in the center and flank it with pine or fir branches. Place cute little men on the plates.
Napkin holders
Tired of the usual napkin holders? The gingerbread men are perfect, but it is important, before cooking them, to make two small holes under the face, so that you can insert a ribbon that will keep them tied to the napkin.
Or use the walls of the house as placeholders and place the entire house on a central stand.
