Dresses for children recalled for strangulation risk: here are the brands involved (one is also sold in Italy)

Children’s garments are subject to very rigorous regulations, which guarantee their safety both as regards the materials and for smaller details, such as applications, buttons and decorative cords. Sometimes, however, some flaws may escape the initial checks, and for this reason further checks and the reports of the authorities are welcome.

In this context, we would like to point out that the Office for Product Safety and Standards, the British authority for product safety, has announced the call of some items of the Miss Summer line, sold by the Next and Matalan chains.

The call is due to the presence of too long decorative cords, which exceed the limits set by the European and British regulations. An apparently harmless detail, but which can represent a concrete risk: the cords could in fact get caught and tighten around the neck of the children, causing suffocation or strangulation.

The products involved

The articles withdrawn belong to the Miss Summer summer line and include several models of clothes and complete for girls.

Ends sold by Next (PSD number 2507-0080):

Heads sold by Matalan (PSD number 2507-0076, on sale from 11 April to 2 June 2025):

All the products were immediately collected by online catalogs and points of sale. Both Next and Matalan invited customers to stop using clothes immediately and return them to get a refund.

Does the call also concerns Italy?

Although these are British brands, Next allows you to buy online also from our country, thanks to an Italian version of the site. This means that the alert also concerns Italian consumers directly. As for Matalan, however, the store does not offer direct shipments to Italy.

Those who have purchased Miss Summer clothes in recent months are invited to check the codes of the products and, in the event of correspondence with those reported, to immediately suspend their use.

The advice is to contact the Customer Service of the chain to receive any assistance.
