Every 10 years this village in the Varese area transforms: 500 thousand paper flowers handmade by the inhabitants invade the town

When the doors of houses and laboratories open to release the fruit of almost three years of silent work, an entire territory changes face in a breath. This is what happens in Casorate Sempione, a village of 5600 inhabitants in the Varese area, overwhelmed by the extraordinary beauty of the Tenth Anniversary Festival of San Tito.

The absolute protagonists of this centenary edition are 500 thousand handmade paper flowers, made with different materials and techniques by an entire community who has chosen to dress up every corner, courtyard and street of the town. The official inauguration, opened by the traditional cannon shots and the blessing of the volunteers in the church, revealed a breathtaking sight that combines faith, identity and unparalleled craftsmanship.

A collective commitment for an event now in its centenary

Behind this floral show that enchants thousands of visitors lies an unprecedented mobilization led by the Pro Loco and the Parish, with the active involvement of over a thousand volunteers including pensioners, families, young people and children. The event celebrates 100 years since the first ten-year celebration wanted in 1926 by Don Luigi Mariani, also coinciding with the 16 centuries since the martyrdom of the saint which took place in 426. Among the most emotional moments of the start stands the homage to the oldest citizen, Mrs. Enrica Zoni, who with her 104 years is the only living witness of all the eleven historical editions of the anniversary.

An experience to be lived step by step even for the little ones

The magic is not limited to visual contemplation, but is transformed into a lively and participatory journey that will last until September 15th. The streets of the historic center each tell a different story, supported by the presence of 5 info points located throughout the streets of the town. This year the Feast of San Tito also caters to the little ones with a fun novelty designed specifically to guide children in discovering the displays: the flower passport which will allow them to collect stamps along the way and receive a special final gift at the famous staircase. The incredible success of attendance recorded since the first weekend confirms the vitality of a century-old tradition that knows how to renew itself while looking to the future.
