For the Swedes, the best way to spend the last working day of the week is in the company of loved ones in the tranquility of their home.
What do you usually do on Friday evening? Exit with colleagues and friends or do you prefer to give yourself in the tranquility of your home? The Swedes prefer the second option and have even coined a term that reveals the secret to spending it in the best way: it is the Fredagsmys.
The word was introduced in the 90s to advertise Swedish chips: the spot of the Olw brand invited buyers to groping them in good company in the relaxation of their own home.
Its advertising meaning has been expanded over time and the “FredagsMys” has turned into a typically Swedish custom, which consists in spending on Friday evening in the company of people dearly in the tranquility of their home, enjoying a good meal followed by chips e Sweets on the sofa.
Often they watch TV or a movie under the blankets, board games are made and some candles are turned on to create a welcoming atmosphere. Tacos are also part of the custom after, in the 90s, they literally began to depopulate across the country.
A survey by the Swedish brand Tex-Mex Santa Maria found that a third of the Swedes between 15 and 70 years of age is dedicated to FredagsMys every week, while a huge 78% at least once a month.
The Swedes find it much more relaxing and beneficial than any other worldly activity and if you say it is one of the happiest countries in the world, there will be a reason for sure!
