Even in 2025 Sanremo demonstrates its media strength, guiding online searches in Italy. The protagonists of the Festival, especially the underdog lesser known, have captured the public’s attention, confirming that even those who start out at a disadvantage can become a viral phenomenon.
The top ten searches – not yet published but revealed in preview by Corriere della Sera and easily verifiable by looking at Google trends – it includes singers, athletes and personalities who marked the year with events or personal stories of great impact.
The Sanremo singers at the center of attention
Google’s music podium sees the lead Lucio Corsisecond in Sanremo 2025 with the song I wanted to be toughwhich saw its popularity explode after the Festival and Eurovision. They follow Olly with Stupid nostalgiaand other names that emerged from the Festival such as Marcella Bella, Serena Brancale And Brunori Sas. Also Achille Lauroalthough among the favourites, remains among the most clicked thanks to performances that are always original and spectacular. The underdogs have thus demonstrated that virality and collective interest do not always reward already famous names.
Italian tennis captures the Italians
Among the most sought after athletes are also tennis talents. Lorenzo Musetti is positioned at third placethanks to excellent results between Roland Garros, US Open and ATP Finals, while Jasmine Paolini is placed at fifth place later the victory at the Rome Internationals and doubles successes at Roland Garros. Tennis confirms its role as a very popular sport, capable of generating curiosity even outside of the most prominent name, namely Jannik Sinner.
Stories of courage and resilience: Bianca Balti and Cecilia Sala
2025 also brought out figures who inspired audiences with their own courage and their determination. Among them there is Bianca Balti who publicly shared her recovery journey from ovarian cancer, becoming a symbol of strength and positivity also thanks to her participation in Sanremo.
Next to her we find Cecilia Salathe Italian journalist freed after 20 days of detention in Evin prison in Iran in January 2025 following the accusation of having “violated the laws of the Islamic Republic”. The images of her return to Italy and the embrace with her family and boyfriend went around the world and made her jump to the top of the searches.
