An oasis of beauty at the gates of Verona
There is a place, a stone’s throw from Verona, which in the spring period turns into an Eden, where nature gives its best, removing the breath. It is the wonderful Sigurtà Garden Park, which in March will reopen its doors to the public, giving way to the 2025 season. Since the waiting reopening will take place on March 8, on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, the park has decided to give entry to all visitors, while male companions will be able to take advantage of a reduced ticket for entry.
A unique botanical heritage: secular trees
The Sigurtà Garden Park, whose doors will remain open until November 2025, is not just an oasis for flowers of flowers. Its 600,000 square meters also host fascinating trees with very ancient history: not to be missed the great oak with over 4 centuries of age, living fossils such as Ginkgo Biloba and the Metasequoie, dating back to the era of the dinosaurs.

Ginkgo Biloba – Near the entrance
The Ginkgo Biloba, famous for its golden hair in the autumn, is an ancient tree dating back to the era of dinosaurs: the name “Ginkgo” derives from the Chinese and means “silver apricot”, in reference to its fruits, while the term “biloba” refers to the division into two lobes of the leaves, in the shape of a fan. Caduca leafy plant and also called “tree of the fans”, in Japan it is revered as a tree of hope.
Great oak – in the oldest area of the park
There Great oakwith its 4 centuries of age, represents one of the oldest trees of the Sigurtà garden park. It is a Petraea oak, with a large dome and reaches 40 meters in height. His bark is gray and smooth and his fruits are the acorns. The Petraea epithet indicates the fact that he loves the drained stony places. At the park it stands in the oldest part, near the Viale delle Rose: the dome extends over almost 1000 square meters, while the trunk, with a circumference of 6 meters, perfectly harmonizes with the hair that measures 120 meters of circumference.
The magnificent labyrinth and historical architectures
One of the most loved attractions of this oasis is undoubtedly the magnificent labyrinth (designed by Giuseppe Inga Sigurtà), which constitutes one of the most spectacular examples in the world of vegetable architecture. The route, which winds for 2500 square meters and houses 1500 Tasso plants, is dominated by a tower inspired by that of the Bois de Boulogne park in Paris.
Historical buildings also deserve to be admired, such as the hill of the emperors who recall the meeting of 1859 of the emperors Giuseppe I of Austria and Napoleon III of France, the buildings of the late 1700s such as the hermitage and the castelletto.

Where it is and how to visit it
Led to the Morenic hills, the Sigurtà park is located in Valeggio sul Mincio, not far from the cities of Verona, Mantua and Lake Garda. The garden can be visited on foot, by bicycle, with electric golf-carts or on board one of the panoramic trains or the electric shuttle.
