Heinz launches the first ketchup smoothie, which we didn’t feel the need

If you thought that all the possible combinations of smoothies had been tested, you were wrong. Heinz and Smoothie King have decided to further raise the bar by launching the Heinz Tomato Ketchup Smoothie, the first smoothie of history ketchup (and probably also the last!).

The new creation mixes sorbet of açai, strawberries, raspberries, apple juice and, of course, the famous Ketchup Heinz. The result? A “blood” red drink, with a sweet and sour and slightly spicy flavor, ready to divide the public opinion that in this case in this case it seems to have been rather unanimous.

There are those who found the crazy idea, who wrote that the fact those who are inside the real ketchup and not only tomato is shocking, who cannot understand how it can work and there are those who have even hypothesized a joke for an April fish out of season.

The smoothie will be available for a period limited at the price of $ 5.70 in some US cities, including Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Miami and parts of the Metropolitan Area of New York and New Jersey.

Lori Primavera, vice president of R&D and Product Marketing of Smoothie King, ensures that behind this extravagant mixture there are months of “meticulous” research, tests and tastings:

We have chosen a sweet-salad mix that celebrates tomato in all its splendor.

As already anticipated, the improbable ketchup smoothie is available only in the United States. For the moment it therefore remains an experiment designed exclusively for the American market, where consumers are more open to gastronomic oddities and where the selected stores also act as real “marketing tests”. It is difficult to imagine that it can ever arrive in Italy and, in this case, it is a real relief.
