“Inside Aut” has opened in Sassari, the bar run by neurodivergent kids with spaces decorated specifically for them

TO Sassariin via Madrid, has opened Inside Auta private club that represents a point of reference for the employment inclusion of young people neurodivergent. The initiative was created thanks to the collaboration of the Lorenzo Paolo Medas Foundation, Casa Artigiani and the La Roccia restaurant, with the support of the Sardinia Region and the Ministry of Disability.

The protagonists of this new adventure are nine young people who have followed a specific training course for become waiters and bartenders. They have obtained the HACCP certificate, which allows them to work in the food sector. An achievement that not only represents professional growth, but also personal growth, as Daniele says:

I have grown a lot, mentally and physically, and I have learned many things, such as how to avoid food contamination.

Inside Aut was designed with particular attention to the needs of young workers. The spaces, decorated with pastel colorsfacilitate visual association for those with verbal communication difficulties. For example, the yellow walls indicate the refrigerator area and the pink one the displays, making the organization of work more intuitive.

Even those with neurodiversity can play an active role in society

The club will offer morning and evening aperitifsprepared and served with care by the kids, supported by expert educators. Irene Pinna, president of the Foundation, underlined that the project represents a new possibility for these young people:

They will work to demonstrate that even those with neurodiversity can play an active role in societywithout stigma or prejudice.

The initiative is not limited to practical work, but aims to a broader path to autonomy. The kids will be able to grow, test themselves and seek opportunities even outside the club. Furthermore, the Foundation promotes integrative activities such as theatre, singing and cinema coursesstrengthening their relational and creative skills.

Inside Aut is a concrete example of how inclusion can be transformed into a resource for the whole community. The kids were enthusiastic students during the course and the customers appreciate this innovation which goes well beyond work, but which gives them hope for the present and the future.
