Luminous trail in the sky of Campania and roar at dawn, there is a boom in sightings in the South: what was it really?

At 5:44 in the morning today, Monday 13 April 2026, the sky above Campania and other southern regions, such as Puglia, has attracted the attention of many people. A long one luminous trailvisible from various points in the South, crossed the dawn surprising those who were already awake and prompting many to immediately share videos and reports. The stories come from Naples, Avellino, Venafro and other nearby areas. One detail emerges clearly: the phenomenon was real, rapid, very evident, so much so that in just a few minutes it sparked curiosity and questions throughout the area.

The videos circulated in the following hours show a brilliant trace, in some cases even fragmentedobserved from locations quite distant from each other. Precisely this diffusion of reports suggests that the object was located at high altitude. When a phenomenon is noticed almost at the same time in different areas, the picture broadens and becomes clearer only by putting together the various testimonies. The single video, alone, says little. The set of observations helps much more to understand what could have happened.

One of the most interesting aspects concerns the appearance of the trail. The track appears elongated, persistent and composed of several bright points along the same route. These are useful elements to guide the first hypotheses. In general, a natural meteor tends to appear and vanish very quickly, while an artificial reentry can be slower, last a few seconds longer and show more evident fragmentation. It is precisely this difference that, in the first evaluations, is drawing attention towards a precise explanation.

Because the space debris hypothesis appears the most plausible today

Based on the analyzes released so far, the track of the reentry of space debris, probably a rocket, appears to be the most convincing one at the moment. The experts who commented on the first videos focus mainly on three elements: the duration of the phenomenon, the fragmented structure of the wake and a dynamics that seems compatible with artificial material re-entering the atmosphere. A definitive confirmation is still missing, so it remains right to remain cautious. At present, however, this hypothesis seems to have more consistency than that of the meteorite.

The most solid hypothesis, at the moment, is that of uncontrolled reentry of an artificial space debris: in particular of body of the Chinese ZK-2 R/B rocketlinked to the mission XINZHENGCHENG 02 of the vector Kinetica-2launched on March 30 by Jiuquan.

In cases like this it is important to carefully distinguish what has been observed from what, for now, remains a deduction. One is observed wide light trailvisible from several areas, with fragments and a persistence that struck many witnesses. From these elements the hypothesis of artificial reentry arises. To arrive at an official answer, however, we need surveys, comparisons between images, instrumental data and technical checks. Until that time, prudence remains the most useful course.
