The Ministry of Health has issued a nationwide recall notice which concerns numerous food products, in particular vegetable preserves, jams and sauces, under the Mentuccia brand. The risk for consumers is more serious than ever, we are talking about possible contamination by botulinum toxinshighly dangerous for human health.
The recall started about 10 days ago with a batch of Salina caper pâté with mint and almonds – batch PC138/24 and minimum shelf life (TMC) 08/2026 – but the alert was subsequently extended to others 16 different food references, all from Mentuccia.
The affected lots were immediately withdrawn from the points of sale, where information signs were also posted to warn consumers. However, it is possible that some recalled products are still in circulation, which is why it is essential to spread the alert quickly.

Botulinum risk: what it is and why it is dangerous
Botulinum toxin is produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum and can cause serious poisoning if ingested. Symptoms include difficulty breathing, blurred vision, muscle paralysis and, in severe cases, death.
Ingestion of contaminated food can mainly occur through canned and poorly stored foods that have not been heat treated or packaged properly.
What to do if you own one of the recalled products
Anyone who has one of the recalled products at home is invited not to consume it and to return it to the point of sale or contact the manufacturer to return the product. It is essential to follow official indications to prevent any health risks.
