The weekend promises to be generous. High pressure holds, the sun goes back to doing its job and temperatures rise to almost 30 degrees – in Sardinia some might even complain about the heat, and we are still in April. A spring that for a few days will already sound like summer.
From Monday the picture changes
A situation that will not last long, given that from Monday a disturbance will begin to affect the anticyclonic shield, first in the North – clouds, scattered rain, growing accumulations – then with increasing determination towards the rest of the peninsula. The Tyrrhenian regions and the islands will hold for a few more days, with phenomena limited to internal areas, while in the North the rains will become more frequent and intense during the week.
May 1st: overcast skies and thunderstorms
For Labor Day, according to the current trend of the models, the picture is what it is: overcast skies, probable showers, thunderstorms not excluded. The bad weather is expected to widespreadly affect the entire national territory, therefore, if you are planning picnics and trips out of town you would better have a plan B.
Temperatures falling: below the seasonal average
With the rains will also come the temperature drop. Temperatures will drop below the climatological average for the thirty-year period 1991-2020 starting from the very first days of May, an abrupt transition compared to the 30 degrees of the previous weekend but not entirely anomalous for a season that always reserves some unexpected events.
After the bridge the variable will return
The consolation, if we want to find one, concerns a probable return of good weather, given that after the most disturbed phase – expected right on the bridge – the models indicate a return to variable spring-like conditions, with new temperature rises. Bad weather should be an episode, not a turnaround.
