Nestlé has ordered the precautionary recall of some batches of its powdered milk for infants and the recall was promptly reported by the Ministry of Health on its website dedicated to food alerts.
Which products are affected
The recall affects two batches of Nidina Optipro 1 milk powder, produced at the Nestlé Netherland BV factory located in Nunspeet, the Netherlands. The affected packages include different types of formats and expiry dates:
The reason for the recall is the possible presence of the bacterium Bacillus cereus, a microorganism that can cause gastrointestinal disorders, especially in newborns and young children, particularly sensitive categories.
What to do if you have the recalled product at home
Nestlé recommends that parents and consumers who find they have one of the indicated batches at home not to use the product. You may return the jars to the place of purchase, where it will be refunded or replaced.
To ensure the safety of children, it is advisable to carefully check the batch number and expiry date before using powdered milk of this brand and type. If you have any concerns or gastrointestinal symptoms after consuming formula milk, it is important to contact your pediatrician.
