It’s official: INPS has published circular no. 139 of 28 October 2025, which opens applications for the new 2025 Mothers Bonus. This is a financial contribution of 40 euros per month, tax-free and not relevant for ISEE purposes, intended for working mothers with at least two children.
The amount, cumulative for a maximum of 12 months, will be paid in a single payment in December 2025 (or at the latest by February 2026), for an annual total of up to 480 euros. The benefit was introduced by legislative decree no. 95/2025, converted into law no. 118/2025, as a temporary measure that replaces the contribution exemption initially planned for this year and postponed to 2026.
Deadlines and application methods
Applications must be submitted within 40 days of the publication of the circular, i.e. by 9 December 2025 (since the 7th falls on a Sunday and the 8th is a holiday). However, those who meet the requirements after this date will be able to submit the request by 31 January 2026.
To submit your application you can choose one of the following channels:
At the time of the request, the worker must also indicate the payment method (IBAN or direct bank transfer).
Who can claim the bonus
Employed working mothers (public or private, but not domestic) and self-employed workers registered with mandatory social security schemes, including professional funds and separate management, can access the contribution.
There are four requirements:
The right to the bonus starts from the month in which the family requirement occurs (for example the birth of the second or third child) and remains valid until the youngest child reaches the age limit.
Bonuses and school: what changes for teachers and ATA
The Ministry of Education and Merit (MIM) has clarified that even fixed-term ATA teachers and staff can submit the application to INPS and not via SIDI as for other bonuses. However, the contribution exemption mechanism provided for by the 2024 Budget Law remains separate, valid for permanent workers with three or more children. The latter will still be able to apply through SIDI, provided they have not already benefited from the benefit in 2024.
