Niva, the cheapest camper in the world: it costs less than a small car and is fully equipped

Who said that to buy a camper you have to empty the bank account? From Russia comes a proposal that completely breaks the patterns: it is called Niva Autom, it is built on Lada Niva base and is considered one of the cheapest camping-car in the world.

The price is a real twist: about 18,000 euros, equal to 1.6 million rubles. A cost that, in the camper market, where even the smaller models exceed 40,000 euros, sound almost impossible. Still, there is.

Behind this vehicle is the Russian company Lux Form, specialized in compact campers. The result is a spartan but functional means, designed for those who want to travel independently without aiming for luxury. Compact, essential, economic: the Niva Autom speaks to those who love open -air experiences and want to start without too many complications.

Inside it is small, but there is everything

The Niva Autom measures 4.76 meters in length and 2.77 meters in height. Do not expect spaces from traditional camper, but every inch is used well. On board find:

Autonomy is guaranteed by a 70 -liter tank for clean water, a 40 -liter one for gray waters and a 95 auxiliary battery. In practice, you can eat, wash and sleep everywhere, without the need for obliged camping stops.

In short, it is not a car with a mattress behind. It is a real mini camper.

Yes, there are limits

Obviously, with an 18,000 euro camper you can’t have everything. The internal height is 1.55 meters: if you are more than 1.60 m high, forget to cook standing. The space for luggage is reduced to a minimum and the 1.7 -liter petrol engine with 84 horsepower is not made to run on the highway.

But if your travel style is slow, simple and far from classic tourist circuits, then these renunciations do not weigh. Indeed, the agility of the vehicle and its off-road skills make it perfect for the dirt roads, the woods, the hills. Where large campers don’t come, he passes without problems.

In Europe it is not so cheap

And in Italy? At the moment, the Niva Autopom is not approved to circulate in the countries of Western Europe. The regulations are too rigid and the vehicle, as it is, does not respect European safety and emissions standards.

But there is a solution. A similar version, built on the most modern Lada Granta, is legally imported into Europe by a single company: Made in Russia GmbH, based in Protting, Bavaria (Germany). This model, called Lada Grana Camper, is more recent and compliant with the EU rules. It is sold for about 30,000 euros, a price, however much lower than conventional campers.

It is not the same vehicle, but the idea remains the same: a compact camper, practical and accessible for those who want to start immediately.

Why is he liked so much?

The Niva Autom will not replace the 100,000 euros campers, nor does it want to do it. But it represents a concrete alternative for those who want to travel without constraints, with a simple, free, essential lifestyle.

It is perfect for those who practice outdoor sports, for those who love free campsite, for those looking for an easy vehicle to park and drive, even off the road.
