A new piece is added to the mosaic of sustainable mobility in Rome and surroundings. A strategic path
Pedalaria was born with the aim of facilitate the daily movements of the airport workersan area that uses about 50 thousand people, many of them resident in Fiumicino. But not only that: the cycle path represents an opportunity for tourists and citizens who want explore the territory in a sustainable wayalso admiring important archaeological sites, such as the imperial ports of Claudio and Trajan.
The route starts from Terminal 3, crosses Via della Airport of Fiumicino, runs alongside the parish of Santa Maria degli Angeli and reaches Viale del Lago di Traiano, where it connects with the pre -existing cycle network that leads to Rome. A journey that, by bicycle, runs in less than 15 minutes.
For its realization, ecological and sustainable materials have been used, including the draining Idrodrain and recyclable wood doughs. Particular attention was paid to the management of rainwater With the adoption of Rain Gardens, natural drainage systems that reduce the risk of flooding and promote water filtering.
A distinctive element of the cycle path is the project “Itinerary among the flower beds of the Mediterranean Areale“, Which provides for the creation of five green areas with plants from the Mediterranean climate areas around the world: from the Mediterranean basin to California, from Central Chile to South South Africa to South-Western Australia. A real open -air botanical garden that will make the path colorful and fragrant, especially in spring.
