Pyroad has returned home! After 5 years he completed around the world on foot (becoming a source of inspiration)

On Saturday morning Nicolò Guarrera, known on social networks such as Pieroad, returned home to Malo, in the province of Vicenza, after completing his tour of the world on foot. Five years of walking, between Europe, America, Oceania and Asia, led Nicolò to travel 36,000 kilometers, making 47 million steps and consuming 24 pairs of shoes. The arrival was celebrated by friends, citizens and followers, who accompanied the walker in the last meters of the trip.

During the last year, Pieroad’s popularity has grown above all on Instagram thanks to the newspapers that told the stages, the people encountered and the unusual experiences. Among its peculiarities, the beard never cut and the trekking stroller nicknamed Ezio, a faithful companion who transported curtains, clothes and supplies, which has now become a symbol of the journey.

The philosophy of travel

Started at 24, Nicolò had studied economics in Parma and was about to graduate. The choice of walking was born from a personal reflection: the real beautiful life is not measured with luxuries or agi, but with the stories lived and told. Two years of preparation, fundraising and path planning preceded the departure, postponed by a few months due to the Lockdown.

During the trip, Pieroad faced luck, meetings with religious figures such as Imam who hosted him generously and remote places such as Australian outback, where he walked for almost six months in total insulation. The route included the path of Santiago, the Canaries, the Ecuador, Patagonia, the land of fire, Australia, India and the Arabian peninsula, with deviations between Greece and Balkans. There was no lack of moments of difficulty such as food poisoning and grandmother’s loss, but his determination has always prompted him to continue.

The book With your feet on the groundcoming out in 2026 for Sonzogno, will collect Nicolò’s stories and reflections, with anecdotes such as Ezio’s breakdown on arrival and the improvised repair by President Zaia. For now, Nicolò prefers to savor the return to daily life without haste and without thinking about new extreme companies.
