Real guacamole? Better to prepare it at home

Even when a ready-made product gets a good score, homemade guacamole remains the best choice due to simplicity and quality of the ingredients. The traditional Mexican recipe was born as an essential preparation, based mainly on crushed ripe avocado, lime, salt and a few other ingredients such as onion, tomato, coriander and chilli pepper.

Its origins date back to the Aztec culture: the term guacamole derives from the Nahuatl word ahuacamolliwhich means “avocado sauce” (ahuacatlavocado, and softsauce). In Mexico this cream is still a preparation closely linked to everyday cuisine, with numerous regional variations.

Preparing it at home is simple: just choose a ripe avocado, process it until you obtain a more or less smooth cream according to your taste and add your favorite ingredients. In this way it is possible to avoid the addition of preservatives, thickeners or other components often present in industrial versions, obtaining a fresher sauce closer to the original recipe.
