With the last passage in the Council of Ministers, the last part of the reform of the school conduct wanted by Minister Giuseppe Valditara also becomes official. The news will mainly concern high schools, where from September those who take six in conduct will not be automatically promoted. In fact, the pupil will have to face a “citizenship task” in September, a sort of recovery exam to demonstrate that he has understood his own shortcomings and to be ready to improve his behavior.
Five in conduct? Year to redo
The reform also introduces another crucial novelty: those who receive five in conduct will be rejected without the possibility of recovery. Furthermore, students who are insufficient already in the first four -month -old will be obliged to participate in the second in behavior recovery paths. The stated goal is to act in a timely manner, trying to correct wrong attitudes before they crystallize.
Middle schools and maturity are not excluded
The new rules do not stop at high school. Already in force, in fact, the part of the reform concerning middle schools, where the numerical vote of conduct was reintroduced, and the high school exam. Here a vote in conduct equal to or less than 8 entails a penalty in school credits accumulated in the last three years. A clear message: behavior also has a weight in the final curriculum.
Suspensions and socially useful jobs
Another relevant novelty concerns the suspension over two days. In these cases, students must be included in voluntary or recovery activities at third sector entities. If it is not possible to find available external structures, the activities can be organized within the school itself.
New regulations by the beginning of the year
All schools will be obliged to update their conduct regulations by the start of the new school year. The final vote will also concern the entire school year and not only the last part, thus avoiding that any improvements of the last hour masks problematic behaviors previously.
