The vacuum cleaner is now an indispensable household appliance for cleaning the home. Whether corded, cordless or in robot version, it allows you to quickly remove dust, crumbs and dirt from floors, making one of the most common household chores easier.
In recent years, the way of vacuuming the home has changed especially thanks to robot vacuum cleaners. Increasingly advanced, these devices can move autonomously in environments, recognize obstacles and schedule cleaning, allowing us to keep floors clean with minimal intervention on our part.
A convenience that explains why robots have become increasingly popular with consumers. But among the many brands available on the market, which are the ones that offer the most reliable and satisfying products?
The answer is a new survey by Altroconsumo, which compared the main vacuum cleaner brands by combining the results of laboratory tests with the experience of thousands of consumers. Let’s start with the robot vacuum cleaners, to find out which brands have achieved the best results.
Robot vacuum cleaner, the ranking of the best brands
To identify the most convincing brands, Altroconsumo did not only consider the results obtained by the devices in laboratory tests. The overall rating also takes into account their reliability over time and the satisfaction of those who own them.
Dominating the ranking of robot vacuum cleaners is Dreame, which reaches an overall rating of 65 points out of 100. In second place we find Roborock, with 64 points, while Xiaomi completes the podium with 60 points.
Followed by Ecovacs, iRobot, Philips, Rowenta and Cecotec.
Let’s look at the brands, one by one.
1. Dreame
Dreame takes first place among the robot vacuum cleaner brands analyzed by Altroconsumo. The brand obtains a particularly high score on the reliability front, with 96 points out of 100, the highest value among all the brands present in the ranking. User satisfaction is also good, with 85 points.
The 15 Dreame products taken into consideration scored an average of 54 points in laboratory tests.
2. Roborock
In second place is Roborock, with an overall rating of 64 points. The brand achieves 83 points for reliability and the same number for consumer satisfaction. The average test results are 59 points out of 100. 13 products of the brand were analyzed.
3. Xiaomi
The third step of the podium is occupied by Xiaomi, which obtains 60 points overall. Reliability stops at 75 points, while user satisfaction reaches 82 points. The laboratory test average is 55 points. 9 Xiaomi models were taken into consideration in the investigation.
4. Ecovacs
Ecovacs reaches an overall rating of 53 points. There are 14 products analyzed, with an average of 43 points in the tests. The reliability index is 75 points, while the consumer satisfaction index is 74 points.
5. iRobot
In fifth place we find iRobot, with 52 points overall. The brand has the highest number of models analyzed in the ranking, 20, but records an average of 48 points in laboratory tests. Reliability is rated with 63 points and satisfaction with 72.
6. Philips
Philips obtains the same overall rating as iRobot, equal to 52 points. 5 products were analyzed, with an average of 38 points in the tests. The reliability index is 77 points and the satisfaction index is always 77.
7. Rowenta
Rowenta is further back, reaching 49 points overall. The 8 products considered scored an average of 46 points in the tests. Reliability is 59 points, while consumer satisfaction reaches 68 points.
8. Cecotec
Cecotec closes the ranking, with an overall rating of 47 points. The 7 products analyzed scored an average of 41 points in the tests. The reliability index is 59 points, while the satisfaction index is 68.
However, the Eufy, Samsung, Hoover and Dyson brands did not enter the ranking because they had not reached the minimum number of tested products required by Altroconsumo, set at five.

The most frequent problem of robots
Even the most high-tech robot vacuum cleaner is not immune to problems. And reliability represents one of the most important aspects when purchasing an appliance that should accompany us for several years.
According to the survey, the battery is the component that most frequently presents problems in robot vacuum cleaners, with reports from 13% of those interviewed. This is followed by problems related to the application, indicated by 9% of owners, and those related to the side brushes, also by 9%. Sensors, on the other hand, represent a problem in 8% of cases.
How long does a robot vacuum cleaner last on average?
The average lifespan detected by Altroconsumo is 6 years and 6 months for robot vacuum cleaners. It is an intermediate duration compared to the other two categories analyzed. Traditional corded vacuum cleaners, in fact, last on average 10 years and 7 months, while cordless electric brooms last 4 years and 10 months.
The difference is particularly evident in the case of cordless brooms, where battery wear represents one of the main factors that can shorten the life of the device.
How the Altroconsumo ranking was created
The 2026 ranking was born from the union of the results of Altroconsumo’s comparative tests with a survey conducted among the members of the Euroconsumers organizations in Belgium, Denmark, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Spain and Hungary.
For corded vacuum cleaners, almost 24 thousand evaluations were collected on reliability and more than 26 thousand on satisfaction. For cordless electric brooms, approximately 11 thousand evaluations were collected, while for robot vacuum cleaners there were over 8,500 evaluations.
The final score does not derive from a single parameter. Laboratory tests account for 45%, reliability for 25%, consumer satisfaction for 20% and the percentage of products that reach excellent quality for the remaining 10%.
For this edition, Altroconsumo considered a total of 121 corded vacuum cleaners, 154 cordless electric brooms and 120 robot vacuum cleaners, tested in the period between 1 June 2024 and 31 May 2026.
The result is a photograph that not only looks at how vacuum cleaners work when they are new, but also at how they perform over time and how much they satisfy the people who use them every day.
