Already referred to the Chamber of Deputies for not having provided the tax return of 2023, Michela Brambilla, a champion of animal rights, would have managed the funds of the Italian League Defense Animal and Environment (Leidaa)of which it is president.
This at least according to the new investigation of Giulia Innocenzi For reports aired yesterday, Sunday 2 February.
After the scandal of breed dogs, in short, now with the name of Brambilla, another real emerges profitable business: from the accounts of the Leidaaas it says Reportthe honorable he would also pay Autoblu services for his own parliamentary role.
What happened
In the episode of “Report” aired on Sunday 2 February, Giulia Innocenzi presented another interesting in -depth investigation on the honorable Michela Vittoria Brambilla and on the management of the Italian League Defense Animal and Environment (Leidaa), an association she founded and chaired.
The investigation raised doubts about the use of the funds of the animal rights association personal expenses and activities not strictly linked to the mission of the non -profit organization.
The disputed expenses
According to what emerged from the investigation, a significant part of the funds raised by Leidaa would have been intended for personal expenses of Brambilla. Among these, stays in the hotel, including dinners with dizzying costs. In addition, expenses for the rental of cars and the purchase of prestigious alcoholic beverages (with receipts that report amounts of 1,263 euros and 2,550 euros for 15 bottles of 139 euros each) have been registered.
Another item of spending concerns the rental of an air platform for the pruning of plants, with an invoice of 488 euros, presumably used for the maintenance of the garden of the private residence of the deputy in Calolziocorte, in the province of Lecco.
The use of funds for political activities
Giulia Innocenzi’s investigation also highlighted how the Leidaa would have covered expenses related to political activities of the honorable Brambilla, including the organization of events for the animal rights movement, founded by the same deputy, including costs for renting spaces, Audio and lighting services and the transport of supporters in different Italian cities (the non -profit organization, for example, would have financed bus to bring activists to events in Rome and for the launch of the movement in Milan and almost everywhere in Italy).
In addition, the Leidaa would have incurred the costs for the registration of the animalist movement.
The conflict of interest
Report therefore raised questions about the possible conflict of interest deriving from the multiple roles covered by the honorable Brambilla: deputy, president of Leidaa and TV presenter.
In particular, it emerged that the Italian Cinofilia Body (ENCI) would have financed the transmission “on the animals” with over 200 thousand euros per season, conducted by Brambilla on Rete 4, for the promotion of race dogs.
All this in contrast with the parliamentary activities of the deputy, who promotes the adoption of dogs from kennels. As a question about the possible inconsistency between its roles, Brambilla replied that the transmission is a Mediaset program and that she merely leads it, without being involved in relations with sponsors or partners.
The fact remains to be done clarityand immediately, on the management of associations, on conflicts of interest and on the need to guarantee transparency and consistency between the declared purposes and the activities actually carried out of the various existing non -profit organizations.
