On July 21, 2025, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced an important recall that concerns over 5 million swimming pools above ground produced by companies Bestway, Intex and Polygroup. The models concerned are those at least 48 inches high (about 1.22 meters), sold in the United States and Canada from 2002 until 2025. The call is motivated by the serious risk of drowning reported in 9 tragic accidents that involved small children.
The risks of using these swimming pools
The defect concerns the external compression straps, structural components designed to guarantee the stability of the swimming pool. These belts run along the outside of the vertical support legs e They can become a foothold for children, who risk climbing and accidentally fall into water without supervision.
According to CPSC, these straps represent a real danger: between 2007 and 2022 9 deaths occurred in the United States of children between 22 months and 3 years of age. In Canada, no deaths have been recorded, but a call was still reported for about 266,000 units sold.

The replacement kit, which is safer, should make the outside of the swimming pool appear like the photos you see to follow. In this case, children do not have the opportunity to climb the straps.

These are the models recalled in the USA:
Bestway and Coleman, models sold from 2008 to 2024
Intex, models sold from 2002 to 2012
