Piazza Grande is ready to transform into the beating heart of Tuscan Christmas. From 15 November to 28 December 2025, the city of Arezzo will host the tenth edition of the Tyrolean Village, the largest Christmas market in Italy which brings the authentic atmosphere of the Alpine holidays to the historic center of the city.
Over forty wooden cabins will occupy the historic square, built following the traditional Tyrolean style. The artisans will offer various creations from Tyrol, Germany and Austria, including Christmas decorations, carved wooden objects, scented candles, nativity scenes and original gift ideas. The houses will be arranged among the medieval buildings in the square, giving life to a truly fascinating contrast between the Tuscan architecture and the Alpine setting.

Tasteful huts and Tyrolean specialties
The gastronomic heart of the event beats in the three Baite del Gusto, wooden structures equipped for tasting Tyrolean specialties. Visitors will be able to taste roasted shin, steaming raclette, polenta accompanied by melted cheeses, stuffed pretzels and dumplings prepared according to traditional recipes. Tyrolean beers will accompany the dishes, while the Baita delle Castagne will offer roasted chestnuts and typical desserts, with the aromas of cinnamon, ginger and mulled wine to complete the picture.
Santa Claus’ House at the Medici Fortress
This year the House of Santa Claus will change location and will have the most panoramic position in the city, namely the Medici Fortress. Over ten thousand square metres, a route will be set up through the shelters dug into the rock, where children will be able to meet Santa Claus and his elves. The itinerary will include creative workshops, interactive games, large light installations, the Planetarium and the miniature Lemax Village.
The Brick House and the world of Lego
Another novelty to enrich the calendar will be the Brick House, which will find space in the Palazzo di Fraternita, right next to the markets. The Lego house will host over forty works of art, mosaics and interactive installations made entirely with the famous colored bricks. Creations will range from famous landmarks to Christmas scenes, offering a playful experience for all ages.
The Big Lights Show lights up the square
When evening falls, the Big Lights Show will transform Piazza Grande into a theater of lights and colours. From 5pm to 9pm, animated light projections will dance on the facades of the historic buildings, accompanied by the inevitable Christmas music. The show, free of charge, will tell stories and legends, with the aim of immersing the public in an atmosphere with strong fairy-tale hues.
Guided tours and practical information
Anyone wishing to deepen their knowledge of the city will be able to take part in the “Arezzo City of Christmas” guided tours, which will be organized every Saturday and Sunday at 3pm starting from the Duomo. The route will pass through Cimabue’s Crucifix, the Cathedral of San Donato, the Parish Church of Santa Maria with the polyptych by Pietro Lorenzetti and the birthplace of Francesco Petrarca.
The Tyrolean Village will open from Thursday to Sunday until December 18th, then it will remain accessible every day until closing on December 28th. The scheduled time is from 10:00 to 21:00, so that visitors can enjoy the atmosphere both during the daytime and during the suggestive illuminated evenings.
