On the motorway you will soon end up paying 2.5 euros per liter of diesel in self-service mode (but also 3 in serviced mode): this is reported by the Codacons following monitoring of the prices communicated by the managers. Reductions in excise duty cuts and, obviously, the international situation have an impact. But according to the Antitrust there are no irregularities.
On 16 September the Government extended the cut on excise duties but from 18 September the overall discount, including VAT, fell from 17.1 to 12.2 cents per liter and eight days later it halved again, stopping at 6.1 cents. This implies that, on a 50 liter tank we will no longer have a saving of 8.54 euros but 6.10 and then just 3.05 euros.
The decree-law approved on 16 September by the Council of Ministers n. 189, among other things, maintains the relief until 5 October exclusively on diesel, without any provision for petrol. As feared, the relief interventions launched by the government are increasingly reduced and, in fact, we are witnessing a gradual exit from support.

And the situation, unfortunately, can only get worse: in fact, according to data from theObservatory on fuel prices of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, on the motorways prices are literally flying, having already exceeded 2.6 euros per liter in served mode on some routes and touching 2.5 in self mode. And with petrol, out of all the benefits, which is dangerously “catching up”.
Where will we end up? Or rather, how much will we pay?
And no, cutting car tax for just one year is not enough.
The consequences of the government’s decision to limit the discount on excise duties will be very serious: the increased spending on families will lead to a loss of purchasing capacity which will be reflected in consumption, with damage to the entire national economy.
