The Termini Station in Rome has “broken”: chaos, delays and dozens of trains cancelled

From 6.30 today railway circulation in Rome Termini and Tiburtina was interrupted due to a fault on the line, which is causing significant inconvenience for those traveling by train. They are in fact underway delays and cancellations on numerous routes that are involving high-speed, intercity and regional trains.

The fault was not specified further, but RFI announced that technicians are working to resolve it. The suspension mainly affected the Naples-Milan and Rome-Milan lineswith delays of up to two hours. Electronic screens in stations result out of serviceand communications to passengers are via loudspeakers or messages on phones causing further chaos.

Not only the Freccia Rossa, but also several trains to and from Milan, Naples and Turin have been canceled or heavily delayed. Intercity trains such as theIC 701 Rome Termini – Taranto and theIC 723 Rome Termini – Central Palermocausing inconvenience for long-distance travellers.

Trenitalia invited passengers to monitor the situation via its website and app, where the list of trains involved is constantly updated. Outages could continue until the line is completely restored resulting in inconvenience throughout the country.
