Trevisogreenest city in Italy! The small Venetian city was in fact awarded the European Green Leaf Award, the prestigious title by the European Commission thanks to its forward -looking policies in terms of the environment.

It is since 2010 that in Europe there are two prizes to encourage and recognize the environmental commitment of the various city realities: the first is theEuropean Green Capital Awardaimed at cities with over 100 thousand inhabitants and aimed at certifying environmental excellence and the ability to implement long -term sustainable strategies; the second is, in fact, theEuropean Green Leaf Awarddedicated to urban centers with a population between 20 thousand and 100 thousand inhabitants It is aimed at highlighting the innovation and ecological commitment of the smaller centers.

Symbolic prizes but not only: the winners receive a financing of 600 thousand euros for the Green Capital and 200 thousand for each green leaf and enjoy a certain visibility, all stuff necessary to encourage tourism investments.

For 2025, Vilniusof Lithuania, has been designated green capital of Europe, aiming to achieve climatic neutrality by 2030 through initiatives such as the massive plating of trees, the active involvement of citizens in urban planning through dedicated apps and the modernization of sustainable infrastructures.

Italy, therefore, stands out with Treviso, which has been able to combine sustainability and social innovation, becoming a virtuous example of how communities can actively participate in the ecological transition.
