This is the most loved village in Italy in 2024

The award, which this year was enriched with a new category dedicated to the Orange Flag villages of the Italian Touring Club, crowned the municipality of Peccioli, in Tuscany, as the overall winner, and won the Most Loved Village in Italy Award 2024.

The winner: Peccioli

Peccioli took to the podium thanks to his ability to fascinate visitors with an excellent mix of art, history and innovation. The village is in fact a treasure chest of architectural and landscape beauties, which has also been able to stand out for its vocation in wanting to experiment with avant-garde projects. It is no coincidence that in recent years, Peccioli has established itself as a model of sustainable innovation, combining tradition with the adoption of modern technologies to improve the quality of life of its citizens and tourists. The combination of a strong cultural identity, an authentic tourist offer and an immersive experience has meant that this little jewel of the Pisan province stands out among the other award-winning locations.

Second and third place on the podium

Ripatransone

Behind Peccioli they classified Ripatransonea medieval village in the Marche region, which obtained second place thanks to its well-preserved historical and artistic heritage, and Petralia Skirt, in Sicily, which took third position for natural beauty and local traditions. What the winning villages have in common, beyond their undisputed beauty, is the quality of hospitality, an increasingly determining factor in contemporary tourist perception.

Petralia Sottana

The initiative, called “Italia Destinazione Digitale” and organized by The Data Appeal Company – Almawave Group, is based on a detailed analysis of the so-called “digital traces” left by users on the web. Thanks to advanced artificial intelligence technologies, 32 million pieces of online content were examined, covering almost 800 thousand points of interest spread throughout Italy, including accommodation facilities, restaurants, cultural and tourist attractions. The data collected, referring to the period from 1 September 2023 to 31 August 2024, made it possible to draw up an updated ranking of the most popular tourist destinations.

Other prizes

Alongside the award for the most loved village, the 2024 edition of the Tourism Oscars also awarded awards at a regional and international level. Among the winners, Veneto stands out, which was awarded the title of “Destination with the Best Reputation” online, surpassing Basilicata and Trentino. The prize for “Best Food and Wine Offer” went to Ragusain Sicily, while the Maiella Park, in Abruzzohas been elected the favorite Italian destination for foreigners.
The annual awards ceremony represents the perfect opportunity to reflect on how Italian villages, while preserving their authenticity, can continue to evolve and improve the experience offered to tourists. In this sense, Peccioli’s victory demonstrates how the combination of tradition and innovation is the key to conquering the hearts of today’s travellers.
