This municipality lends you a bike for free for a year: how it works and who can participate

In Lazio, the Municipality of Cerveteri has decided to pedal in the right direction. With the project Bike Fold Trial – Let’s ride a bike!the administration provides 25 bicycles, of which 15 electric and 10 muscular, to be used free of charge for an entire year. A gesture that seems small but which, in reality, can change a lot: it offers citizens the opportunity to experience mobility on two wheels without spending anything, without risks and without excuses.

The objective is clear: reduce the use of private cars and promote the bicycle as a daily, practical and sustainable means of transport. The bikes remain the property of the Municipality, which guarantees their maintenance and management, a model of active public mobility that could inspire many other local authorities.

How the project works and who can participate

The initiative is open to adult residents of the municipal area. To participate, simply submit the application by 22 November 2025, attaching your identity document, your health card, your ISEE 2025 (referring to 2023) and, for those who have it, your public transport season ticket. The requests will be evaluated by the Environment and Mobility Service, which may request additions within ten days to ensure a transparent and impartial selection.

More bikes, less traffic and cleaner air

The positive effects of Bike Fold Trial they go far beyond the individual aspect. Every citizen who chooses the bike contributes to reducing traffic and pollution, freeing up parking and improving the quality of urban life. Not only that: daily cycling is a cure-all for your health and an incentive to rediscover the pleasure of slow and conscious movement. With this project, Cerveteri demonstrates that the ecological transition does not require large investments but concrete and replicable ideas. A silent revolution, a concrete step towards sustainable mobility and a healthier lifestyle because, one bike at a time, you can really change a city.
