This woman sold her house and embarked on a trip around the world: she has already visited 168 countries

Lynn Stephensona 61-year-old woman from Carlton, Nottinghamshire, decided to make her dream a reality: visit every country in the world. After years spent working as an office administrator and part-time gym instructor, Lynn made a radical decision in 2022. She sold his housepaid off the mortgage and used the proceeds to finance his ambitious travel project.

The COVID-19 pandemic was a turning point for Lynn. He recounted:

I never imagined the world could come to a complete stop. That experience made me realize that the time had come to act.

So, as soon as the lockdown was lifted, Lynn hopped on a flight to Italy, inaugurating her new life as an explorer. For the past two years, Lynn has visited 168 countrieswith the aim of completing its itinerary within the next year.

Iran is the most hospitable and welcoming country

Destinations already ticked off his list include fascinating places such as Nepal, Bhutan, Thailand, Iraq, Afghanistan, South Korea and Taiwan. Every experience enriched herbut some adventures proved particularly unforgettable. In the Galapagos Islands, for example, Lynn had the opportunity to swim with penguins, sharks and sea lions on the same day, calling this experience “spectacular”.

Lynn’s determination has been accompanied by a growing following on social media, where she documents her travels and inspires thousands of people. “It’s wonderful to know that I can motivate others to discover the world” he commented. Lynn is aware of the difficulties that can arise during travel, but emphasized how each challenge helps make her more resilient.

Among the countries that have affected her the most, Lynn mentions Iran, which she describes as “the most hospitable and welcoming I have ever visited”. There kindness of the people met along the way is, for her, the most rewarding aspect of this adventure.

Lynn’s journey will continue with stops in Australia, East Timor, Brunei and Bangladeshand then move to Africa and conclude with the few missing nations. While she doesn’t have a plan to stop, Lynn is sure she wants to continue exploring the world. After all:

Every day is an adventure. I will never stop looking for new experiences.
