A jet flying motorcycle prototype called Volonaut Airbike is attracting the attention of media and technology enthusiasts. Presented as a sort of futuristic “speeder bike”, it is very reminiscent of the vehicles imagined in science fiction films. But how much is it true?
Volonaut Airbike, the real prototype really flies
The project, born in Poland and led by Tomasz Patan, was officially revealed in 2025 after a long period of development in confidentiality. The Volonaut Airbike is described as a single -seater motorcycle powered by redundant jet turbines, therefore it does not use propellers such as many drones or Empl aircraft already known.
The vehicle has a weight of just 30 kilos and can support a pilot up to 95 kilos. The maximum speed declared on the official website is 102 km/h, in line with the limits of the ultralight according to the US FAA legislation. Some articles speak of a theoretical speed up to 200 km/h, but this figure does not appear among the official data.
The autonomy remains very limited: flights do not exceed 10 minutes. On the other hand, the supply is quick: less than 60 seconds are enough to fill the tank, which can use different fuels, from diesel to jet-a1.
Price, video and … doubts
One of the reasons why the project has discussed is the publication of official videos by Volonaut, which guarantees that it has not used CGI or special effects. According to what Gearjunkie noticed, in the movies the Airbike appears suspended and in flight, but you do not always see clear downloads and complete landings, leaving room for doubts about the real maneuverability.

The price is not within everyone’s reach: some media, including Forbes, report a figure around 880 thousand dollars for a specimen. At the moment it is not clear whether it is the definitive cost for the commercial version or a provisional indication.
The regulation chapter also remains open: in the United States the half would fall into the “ultralight” category and would not require a specific license, but in Europe and in many other countries the rules are still all to be written.
Volonaut Airbike shows that technology is trying to transform what until recently seemed pure science fiction. However, concrete limits remain: reduced autonomy, very high costs, safety all to be verified.
For now, more than a means of daily transport, Airbike is a spectacular prototype that feeds the imagination and highlights how much the mobility of the future is changing quickly.
