The communication campaign of the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE) is underway ‘We care about the Planet a world’ which aims to convey an important message: the ecological and energy transition is not a long-term perspective, but an ongoing process which involves citizens, businesses, territories, research and institutions every day. But is it really like that?
The transition is not something we have to wait for: it is already a reality. We see it in the companies that innovate, in research, in new technologies, in energy communities, in the circular economy and in the many experiences that are changing our country – says Gilberto Pichetto, minister of MASE – This is why we have chosen to tell it in a different way, with simple, direct language close to people’s lives. We need more awareness, but also trust: because environmental and energy transformation is not just a challenge, it is a great opportunity for innovation and growth for Italy
It is expected that the campaign, carried out by the agency THE THOUSAND Creative Consultancy as part of the activities of Investment 3.3 Culture and awareness launched in 2022, is broadcast on the main media and communication channels, such as television, radio, press, OOH, online and social media. But there will also be in-person events.
MASE has also launched the web platform It depends on us, from which it is possible to access various types of information content, such as news, infographics, podcasts, videos and video lessons.
In particular, on the page dedicated to Climate Change, MASE writes:
The Earth’s temperature is subject to natural variations. Over the last century, however, an anomalous rise in temperatures has been recorded. The UN has stated that this is due to greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere caused by the use of fossil fuels. The combustion of coal, oil and natural gas to heat our homes, to run factories, to move men and goods has caused exceptional emissions of so-called greenhouse gases in recent decades, never before recorded in history. An increase in global temperatures has thus been triggered which is causing the melting of mountain and polar ice, desertification of vast areas of the planet, loss of terrestrial and marine biodiversity
Yes, what is happening depends on us, at least to a large extent. Yet there are those who continue to maintain that global warming is a natural phenomenon, due to geological cycles on which man has a completely negligible influence.
Just in recent days a real storm has broken out in Belluno, where the text ‘Climate change. Scenarios, challenges, solutions in schools, professional bodies and local authorities‘, which would deny human responsibility for climate change, was distributed to high school students (4th and 5th year), and above all financed by the Veneto Region.
If we want to prevent temperatures from rising beyond levels that make life on Earth problematic, it is necessary, in a very short time, to decarbonize the production system and the civil uses of energy
