Every year the photographic competition “1839 Photographer of the Year Awards” celebrates the wonders of our planet by rewarding the most beautiful photographs in the world. Among the various categories of the competition, which are very numerous, there is also space for flora, wildlife and nature in its entirety.
In the “Wildlife” section he triumphed “Wishes” by Geert Wegen, which portrays a nice red squirrel with his nose immersed in the Pumous sphere of a shower. What are you expressing desires?!

In the same category in second place we find Wayne Sorensen’s “Emperor’s Rule”: the photo portrays a male emperor on the ice of the Ross in Antarctica’s sea.

To win the bronze was the photography “Against a Quiet Current” by Michael Mihaljevich: a alce and his puppies cross a mountain river wrapped in the morning fog.
Photographer Hugo Hebbe triumphed in the same category with the shot entitled “Warrior”, which portrays a huge lute turtle, the largest marine turtle of the earth, intent on laying eggs on the beaches of the French Guayana.

The photographs that have earned the honorable mention are no less fascinating: among these stands out “Velvet and Stealth” by Greg du Toit, who immortalized a series of Leopardi surrounded by darkness.

“Poppies” by Anna Rebova is a hymn to the elegance of the past.

Turning to the “Underwater” category we find in first place “Whale Dreams” by Remuna Beca. The photograph portrays a small megattera in the South Pacific.

While in the “Landscapes” category he triumphed “The Great North” of the Italian Enrico Curti, who portrayed a series of surreal winter landscapes.
