Arzachena’s staircase is colored by diversity and inclusion with the new work of the artist Eelco

Every year the staircase of the church of Santa Lucia in Arzachenain Sardinia, we dress in new colors, attracting many tourists eager to immortalize and share it online. Not surprisingly, the title of place has earned more instagrammable of the North Sardinia.

To give her a new look, for this tenth edition, was the Dutch artist Eelcowhich has staged, with its unmistakable style, the theme of diversity and inclusion With an explosion of color and symbolic shapes, combining humans, animals and nature.

The “Integrity” workwhich replaces Fabio Petani’s “essences of Gallura” (created in 2024), is an invitation to connection and solidarity, as explained by the municipal administration on its Facebook page:

“Integrity is an invitation to hold us by the hand in the staircase, often fraught with obstacles, of life, because, after all, we are all connected.”

Eelco himself, during theinauguration that took place on Friday 11 Aprilin the presence of local authorities and numerous citizens, he explained that – symbolizes the union of the different because we are all one:

There are female figures, animals, nature and many colors in this work that I called integrity – explains Eelco -. It symbolizes the union of the different because we are all one. Often we are afraid of changes, we are afraid of what we do not know, even of the cultures other than ours while, however, everything is one in the universe, we are connected. In this place it has even greater meaning, a place like Arzachena where tourists come from all over the world that can widely disseminate the message of brotherhood and unity represented here.

The work was built on 75 wooden panels, performed at Entro di San Gavino Monreale, mounted on the staircase so as not to damage it, fully respecting the historical and architectural value of the place.

Year after year, this project continues to renew itself with the creativity of international artists, transforming a simple uphill path into a symbol of beauty, inclusion and belonging. A project that in addition to enhancing the historic center of Arzachena, projects it into a wider artistic and cultural dimension.
