Made entirely with PVC pipes, they manage to move thanks to special sensors activated by the wind and can even “store” air to continue walking even when currents fade. Elegant and graceful despite their imposing dimensions, they remember gigantic insects or prehistoric skeletons. They certainly don’t belong to this world!

Over the years, Theo – which attributes to each creature a proper name – has perfected its Strandbeest, making them increasingly performing and able to resist even storms.

Applied physics studies and engineering knowledge, combined with the passion for aeronautics and robotics, have certainly contributed to making these sculptures so sophisticated. As an artist, Theo manages to combine different skills, merging art, science and technique in a unique balance, so much so that he has been compared to Leonardo da Vinci. It is no coincidence that his creatures landed for the first time in Italy in 2019, on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of Leonardo’s death.

Being able to admire them live while they are around Dutch beaches, it must be a truly unique experience!
