These aerial photographs invite us to reflect on contemporary society and its impact on the planet

Cassio Vasconcellos He is a Brazilian photographer who, through his shots, invites us to reflect with a critical spirit on contemporary society. It does so by preferring aerial photography, whose particular perspective helps to give life to images of strong impact and on a large scale.

One of his most significant projects is the “Collectives” series, a series of photographs that documents the impact of human consumption on the environment by exploring our globalized lifestyle.

In these shots, Vasconcellos portrays carriers crowded with vehicles, roads, crowds of people, airports, by an unusual angle that reveals it otherwise imperceptible shades. This is how places of daily frenzy are transformed into powerful images.

In reality, these are photographs composed of hundreds of different shots, which united with each other create visual mosaics capable of showing the enormous amount of resources that we consume and use, and their impact on the planet.

Vasconcellos’s passion for photography was born when she was still a boy and, since then, she hasn’t abandoned him anymore, becoming his profession and his unique way of interacting with the world.

His love for aerial photography is also linked to another passion: that for the aviation, in particular for helicopters, who has learned to pilot. Just during flights he discovered the most fascinating places, which he then immortalized in his photographs.
