Esteban Castroa student of 14 years of the Mayor college of Peñalolén, in Chile, conquered the first place in the category Environment to the Exposciencies National Milset Brazil 2025 which took place from 11 to 15 May. His project, a Filter for escapement pipes made with zeolitea mineral capable of Absorb carbon dioxidehas distinguished itself between over 200 scientific works from all over South America.
The inspiration for the project came after Esteban saw Santiago del Chile Wrapped in smog from the top of a hill. In fact, he told how this situation is sorry and that he thought of what to do to face this reality and help the city to be cleaner.
His solution? A air purifier economic and efficient, designed to be installed in car exhaustsone of the main managers of theair pollution in large cities.
A future between neurosurgery and biochemistry
The Milset Exposciencies event aims to encourage young people to immerse themselves in the disciplines Steam (Science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics), favoring collaboration and cultural exchange. Esteban’s success demonstrates how scientific curiosity, combined with an ecological vision, can translate into concrete solutions for the sustainable future of the planet.
In addition to the interest in theenvironmentEsteban dreams of becoming neurosurgeon or biochemicalalways maintaining an approach aimed at social improvement. His victory has not given him only a diploma, a medal and a trophy, but also the opportunity to represent Chile in international scientific events.
Esteban’s project is an example of how the young generation can actively contribute to the Fight against pollution. His invention, simple but potentially revolutionary, offers a practical solution to a global problem, showing that science and creativity can work together for a cleaner world. Thanks to brilliant minds like his, the future ofeco -sustainability It appears a little brighter.
