Each of us has different sides, which emerge on the basis of the contexts and people with whom we find ourselves. There are those who, in nice and brisk public, prove to be reserved and taciturn within the walls of the house. And who, instead, with a somewhat gruff air, hides a deep sweetness reserved only for those who really love. In short, even if we struggle to admit it, what we show in certain environments does not always coincide with who we are in others. And it is not hypocrisy: it is complexity, it is authenticity.
This is precisely the fulcrum of the “Celebrity Diptych Project”, a project created by the photographer Andrew H. Walker, who involved over 30 international celebrities. Each VIP has been portrayed in a double shot: on the one hand the public personality, on the other that is private. The contrast is surprising, at times unsettling. A real part and a false one? No. They are both real, simply different facets of the same person.
Why, after all, aren’t we all like that?
Seeing how certain well -known faces change completely in the private sphere really makes us reflect and perhaps it makes us feel a little less alone in our complexity.
