Menstruai: the intelligent absorbent that transforms the cycle into a female health test

A simple menstrual absorbent could soon become an ally for female health. Is called Menstruai And it is an innovation developed by a group of researchers from the Federal Polytechnic of Zurich (Eth Zurich) with the aim of transform menstrual blood into a source of precious clinical informationwithout needles, withdrawals or laboratory visits.

Inside the absorbent one is inserted Small Silicone room which hosts one Reactive strip similar to those of rapid tests for Covid. Blood flows controlled in the test, ensuring a clear reading and without contamination.

How it works

Menstruai is able to identify the presence of biomarkers linked to different pathologies:

The answer can be seen directly on the strip via a color change proportional to the concentration of the biomarator. Can be interpreted naked eye Or photograph and analyze with an app with an artificial intelligence, capable of detecting variations of intensity too thin for the human eye.

A technology validated in the laboratory and ready for large -scale tests

The first laboratory tests have shown that the results obtained with Menstruai are comparable to those of a traditional blood examination. Now the researchers are organizing a study on over 100 participants to understand how the device works in daily life and compare their accuracy with standard laboratory analyzes.

This technology does not want to replace clinical tests, but to offer an early alert toolcapable of reporting anomalies and push to consult a doctor. The goal is to create a system accessible, not invasive and integrated into the monthly routineespecially useful where access to workshops and hospitals is limited.
