This is mainly valid for some environments, such as located above non -heated local (such as taverns, which are more exposed to humidity problems. In these cases, insulation becomes indispensable: direct contact with the ground favors the accumulation of humidity, which tends to trace and be absorbed by the attic, causing the formation of spots and molds on surfaces.
Let’s see, therefore, better why to do this job and some suggestions on the matter.
Why is it isolated the floors
As already mentioned, the insulation of the floors offers numerous advantages, both in terms of comfort and energy saving, allowing to reduce the expenses related to heating up to 20%.
This is possible because the insulators for floors such as those of the Trocellen brand avoid contact between the interior of the house and the external environment and prevent the warmth from dispersing. In addition, these materials retain the water by avoiding that it can go up through the attic, preventing the formation of mold and keeping the rooms dry and healthy.
In addition to the thermal benefits, however, improvements can also be obtained from an acoustic point of view: in fact, a good isolation also contributes to limiting the transmission of noises.
This aspect is particularly useful in homes on multiple plans or in condominium contexts, where it is important to reduce sounds from the upper floors or adjacent environments.
How to make the insulation of floors
To insulate the floors, it is necessary to apply insulating materials such as panels, foams or mattresses with thermal and acoustic properties on the surface or flooring.
The choice of the most suitable material depends on several factors, including environmental conditions, climatic zone, the level of humidity present and the type of pavement to be isolated.
If you want to reduce only noise, however, it is possible to focus on the polyethylene foam reticulated, which thanks to the reduced thickness and the combination of resistance and flexibility, is light and easy to install even in reduced spaces or in complex conditions.
How to install insulating materials
To correctly install the insulating panels for floors, it is important to start cleaning the surface on which they will be laid, eliminating dirt, dust, oils and debris to ensure good adhesion.
The panels must be arranged transversely compared to the direction of the flooring, moreover it is necessary to place them precisely and without overlap. It is also important to seal the edges of the panels with adhesive tape, in order to keep them stable during laying.
The edges must protrude by about 2-3 cm along the walls, in order to guarantee an effective disqualification between the floor and walls. The surplus must be cut only at the end of the installation of the floor, thus ensuring optimal and lasting isolation. Finally, during the fixing of the Battiscopa, it is advisable to leave a small detachment from the floor to avoid acoustic bridges, then sealing with an elastic glue to ensure an insulating and lasting finish.
This method allows to obtain an ideal background for the floating laying of laminated floors, parquet or other rigid floors with a thickness greater than 8 mm. In any case, if you do not have the right skills (or in the presence of irregularities of the background and/or particular environmental conditions) it is preferable to request the support of a professional.
