Do you already feel festivals and Christmas perfumes? You will not have to wait much because in November the Espresso Natale will start, the special train from Roma Termini to Arezzo who transforms the journey into a unique experience immersed in the atmosphere of the holidays. The carriages will be decorated with themed, with background Christmas music, a dedicated bar service and even a small tribute for passengers. Every Sunday, from 30 November to 28 December 2025, travelers will be able to reach the famous Christmas markets in Arezzo without worrying about traffic or parking lots.
The Christmas Village of Arezzo
The final destination is the spectacular Piazza Grande di Arezzo, which from 15 November to 28 December will host the Tyrolean village, the largest Tyrolean market in Italy. Here you can discover artisan products, gift ideas, decorations and typical wooden houses where you can enjoy specialties such as Brezel, Raclette, Polenta and Roast Stinco.
The 2025 edition presents a great novelty: the home of Santa Claus in the Medici Fortress, a path of over 10,000 square meters with workshops, games, installations and even a planetarium. The Brick House is also back, the Lego exhibition with more than 40 original works, hosted at Palazzo della Fraternita.
Shows and traditions
Every evening, from 17 to 21, the city lights up thanks to the Big Lights Show, which colors the facades of the buildings with games of lights and music. In addition, guided tours are planned every weekend to discover the history and art of Arezzo, starting from the Duomo. The village will be open from Thursday to Sunday until 18 December, and subsequently every day until December 28, with special times for the eve and Christmas day.
The journey by train: timetables and rates
L’Espresso Natale starts from Roma Termini at 8:30 and arrives in Arezzo at 12:10, crossing the panoramas of Umbria. The return is scheduled at 17:30 with arrival in Rome at 10:42 pm. Promotional rates are available until 13 October, with reductions for children and families: the little ones travel with 50% discount. The seats are limited (30 in the first and 60 in second), so it is better to book in advance on the website of the Parks Railway.
The itinerary follows the suggestive internal line that crosses the Umbrian hills, offering a slow and relaxing travel experience, far from the frenzy of fast trains. On board there are comfortable armchairs in the first and second class, a bar service in the restaurant carriage and a small tribute for passengers.
