Forget the boiler, this revolutionary solar panel heats your home with the sun like two radiators

A panel mounted on the facade that uses only sunlight to produce hot air and introduce it directly into the home: this is the proposal of a young French start-up that aims to reduce consumption and costs without modifying existing systems. The system is called Solar Boost and was created to work all year round, adapting to different climatic conditions and offering a simple alternative to traditional heating methods.

The idea comes from Air Booster, a young French company born in Bordeaux in 2019, when clean energy was already a necessity rather than a trend. The two engineers, Christophe Fourcaud and Mathieu Dessans, imagined a different way of heating a house. No boilers, no complicated thermostats, just a solar heating panel capable of working with what we have for free every day, even when we no longer think about it: the sun.

The interesting idea is that this panel works all year round. It is not a seasonal object that goes into hibernation as temperatures change.

In winter it heats like two radiators, in summer it brings fresh air at night

When winter arrives, Solar Boost recovers the heat that hits the facade and transforms it into hot air, reducing the need to turn on stoves or air conditioners. The declared power is equivalent to two normal electric radiators, a value that can significantly reduce the use of electricity or gas.

In summer the opposite happens: the system captures the fresh air of the night hours and introduces it into the house, promoting natural cooling. It is a solution that goes well with the increase in heat waves and the need to look for less energy-intensive methods to cool environments.

The start-up talks about savings of up to 83% on the bill. Of course, as with any technology of this type, the results depend on the exposure of the facade, the climate and domestic habits. But the principle is simple and it works: less energy consumed, fewer emissions and less expenses. Solar Boost is the result of over three years of development, and its strength lies precisely in not complicating what can be simple. The design is discreet and does not alter the aesthetics of the buildings. Installation is quick and does not require structural work or particular technical skills.

It is designed for detached houses, condominiums, city apartments and rural homes. A versatility that is useful especially in those regions where heating weighs more on the family budget and where energy poverty is not an abstract concept, but a daily problem. The panel also attracted attention at COP30 in Belém, Brazil, where it was presented as an example of low-tech technology, i.e. essential but effective. A sort of return to the idea that innovation doesn’t always have to be complicated to be useful.

Can it work in Italy? Yes, and in many areas very well too

Italy has a natural advantage: we are one of the European countries with the most annual solar radiation. This means that a solar panel for heating like Solar Boost has favorable conditions in much of the territory.

In the central and southern regions, where the sun shines even in winter, the system would probably give better results than those declared in France. In the North it still works, but the efficiency varies depending on the area and above all on the exposure of the facade. The key condition is always the same: you need a wall facing south or south-west, free from shadows.
