These are the 10 cities where you eat best in the world (and the first 4 are Italian)

Taste Atlas, the global encyclopedia dedicated to food and culinary traditions, returns with its highly anticipated annual rankings. This platform is responsible for mapping the gastronomic excellence of the planet, highlighting excellent restaurants, unmissable destinations for lovers of good food, specialties to be enjoyed at least once and ideal cities for food and wine tours. A true point of reference for those looking for reliable suggestions on where and what to eat, with the aim of preserving and enhancing the culinary heritage as an expression of the cultural identity of the territories.

For the two-year period 2025-26, Taste Atlas has published various rankings: from the most delicious cities to the most popular national cuisines, from iconic dishes to the most loved desserts, up to the reference gastronomic regions and the best food producers for each category.

The tricolor conquers the podium

Italy shone in all sections, literally monopolizing the top positions. The result in the global city ranking was particularly significant, which saw the first three positions occupied by Italian cities, exactly replicating the podium of the previous year. A result that confirms how our country attracts visitors above all for its gastronomic offer, even before its artistic and cultural heritage.

Naples on the roof of the world

The Neapolitan city reconfirms itself as the world champion of good food, surpassing over 18,000 locations in the Taste Atlas database. This record is based on almost 590,000 reviews relating to approximately 19,000 cataloged food specialties. Naples obtained the highest ratings thanks to its iconic dishes: pizza margherita, puff pastry, Sorrento gnocchi, zeppole and spaghetti with clams.

Among the recommended places are famous names: the Pizzeria Starita in the Materdei district, the Antica Trattoria and Pizzeria da Donato, Gino and Toto Sorbillo, 50 Kalò and the Antico Forno dei Fratelli Attanasio.

Milan and Bologna complete the Italian podium

In second place is Milan, appreciated for its yellow risotto with saffron (which received very high scores), the breaded cutlet, the ossobuco, the cassoeula and of course the panettone, perfect for this festive period.

Bologna achieved third place thanks to its tagliatelle seasoned with ragù, tortellini served in hot broth and baked lasagna, which brilliantly surpassed all competition.
